How to print from an iPhone or Android phone
Most Wi-Fi printers can print straight from your phone with no cables or computer. Here’s how on both iPhone and Android.
Quick answer
On iPhone, open what you want to print, tap Share › Print and pick your printer (AirPrint). On Android, tap the menu › Print, select your printer, and tap the print button.
iPhone and iPad (AirPrint)
- Make sure your iPhone and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the photo, email or document and tap Share (the square with an arrow), then Print.
- Tap Printer, select yours, choose copies and pages, and tap Print.
Android
- Connect to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
- Open what you want to print, tap the three-dot menu or Share, then Print.
- Tap the printer name at the top and choose All printers if yours isn’t shown.
- Tap the round print button.
If the printer isn’t found, go to Settings and search for Printing, make sure Default Print Service is on, or install the manufacturer’s print app from Google Play.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an app to print from my phone?
No, for most printers. iPhones use AirPrint and Android uses its built-in print service. Manufacturer apps add scanning and ink levels.
