Epson EcoTank setup and troubleshooting

EcoTank printers (such as the ET-2800, ET-2850, ET-3850 and ET-4850) replace cartridges with refillable tanks. They’re cheap to run, but first setup and print quality maintenance need a little care.

Independent guide: not affiliated with or endorsed by Epson.

How to set up a Epson EcoTank

  1. Fill each tank with its matching bottle — the bottles are keyed so they only fit the right tank.
  2. Turn the printer on and let ink charging finish completely.
  3. Use Epson Smart Panel or the printer’s Wi-Fi Setup Wizard to connect.
  4. Install the Epson driver package or add the printer through your computer’s settings.

Then add it to your computer: Windows 11 · Windows 10 · Mac · Chromebook · Phone

Worth knowing

Models without a screen (for example the ET-2800) are set up through Epson Smart Panel or the setup software.
